Re-discovering the Joy of Giving

Re-discovering the Joy of Giving
by Redina Kolaneci

A three week stewardship education programme for the local church, comprising sermon notes, Bible study materials, children’s programmes and prayers.
(To purchase a copy of this resource send a £10.00 cheque, made payable to Stewardship Services, to Stewardship Services, PO Box 99, LOUGHTON  IG10 3QJ)

This resource is based around 1.Chronicles 16:29 and is liberally sprinkled with plenty of Bible references. Though an attempt is made to encourage a broader ‘stewardship lifestyle’ involving witness, use of time and skills, peace and justice issues the dominant theme is very definitely financial giving. The target audience for this resource pack is the leadership of a local church.

What Does Love Reqire?

What Does Love Reqire?
by Redina Kolaneci

Five Bible studies on stewardship with background to each passage for study leaders, questions for discussion and helpful practical tips. Participants are given practical activities to undertake subsequent to the study which should help them to apply principles of stewardship to their lifestyle.
(To purchase these studies send a £3.00, made paybable to Stewardship Services to Stewardship Services, PO Box 99, LOUGHTON  IG10 3QJ)

These studies could be used with students and adults of any denomination provided they were familiar with a group Bible study approach. The two old testament and three new testament studies cover some key aspects of stewardship in a broader than financial sense using texts which are refreshingly different from the standard ones. Highly recommended!

World on Loan - Christian Stewardship in the Local Church

World on Loan - Christian Stewardship in the Local Church
by John Davies
Bible Society, 1993

This book contains a fair degree of biblical analysis. The exposition tends strongly towards the social justice/action arena. The author has deliberately avoided the more standard biblical exposition regarding giving and use of possessions. It contains many practical suggestions for group and congregation work. It is less practical in its suggestions for action. It very much approaches the issue of values and motivation, seeking to challenge its readers to consider what action they should then take.
